What is a transit?
A transit is an astrological event that happens in real time and impacts all people on earth in the same way… though people’s unique birth charts heavily modify specific expressions and add much more information on the individual effect.
Jupiter in Leo is a transit that hits all of us from June 30th, 2026, to July 26th, 2027. Some people are also born with Jupiter in Leo, but this article is not for them.
What is Jupiter?
Jupiter is a major so-called “social” planet in astrology, which means that it takes 12 years to fully orbit our Sun and thereby move through all signs of the zodiac. It stays about 1 year in each sign. In astrology, Jupiter signifies themes like luck, money, expansion, adventure, risk-taking, pleasurable activities, wisdom, belief systems, gaining understanding, becoming an authority, and blessings. However, every single player in astrology has a shadow side as well: Jupiter’s is that it indiscriminately expands whatever it touches. So, the bad sides of a sign it travels through become just as magnified as the good sides. Furthermore, Jupiter also rules the consequences of relying too much on luck, not taking wise risks, being reckless, and pursuing empty pleasures instead of a fulfilling life. It can be associated with a lack of substance and too big of an ego – particularly in Leo.
The Sign of Leo:
The zodiac sign of Leo has a reputation that is a little bit unfair: while every single zodiac sign has good and bad expressions, including Leo, people tend to overly focus on the bad (which again, legitimately exists) and forget or downplay the good. So, let’s cover what Leo actually stands for.
The bad:
Leo, in its shadow, is all about gaining love, attention, validation, and approval for its own sake – no matter what one has to do to get it. These are the patterns in people that make them sell their proverbial soul for fame. It’s also the pattern that tempts them to throw their authentic self out of the window to become an empty shell that they think others will like more. Everyone has Leo in their charts (so everyone has some of this shadow inside of them), but some have it much more strongly than others… and are thereby more tempted to fall into these traps.
Another shadow of Leo is also what happens when someone believes too much in themselves – particularly when that belief is divorced from reality. The shadow of Leo is to think you’re special and wish for extra treatment accordingly. If others don’t see your genius, well – then they are bad people, etc., etc. If this is connected to actual reality, that’s fine (some people genuinely are special, be it because they’re experts in their field, particularly gifted, genuinely different, etc.) – however, Leo in its shadow can blow its own gifts out of proportion and can make people be their own greatest (and only) fan. So, both overestimating oneself and entitlement are a shadow of Leo – and so is, obviously, arrogance.
In its paradoxical third expression, Leo’s shadow also makes us far more vulnerable in our self-esteem. Leo doesn’t have a sense of self divorced from outside influences; it craves other people’s validation, and in its shadow, when that becomes too much, this leads to an overdependence on and vulnerability to lack of validation, perceived lack of validation, and criticism (or worse). Leo in its shadow can completely destroy someone’s confidence and self-esteem, make them shy away from any sort of limelight, and even make people hate themselves.
I bet this comes as a surprise to many, since the reputation of the zodiac sign is very much not that. But under Jupiter in Leo, all these expressions – including the vulnerability of our confidence – are major themes we have to walk with.
The good:
Now that we covered the bad, let’s go over the good. Please remember that every single person has Leo in their chart somewhere (even if you don’t have planets there) – your unique birth chart shows how strong this influence is and where it hits you.
Where Leo sits in our charts, we have something different and beautiful to give to ourselves and to the world. Leo brings genuine specialness and gifts to a person… not necessarily ones that are immediately obvious, as some have to be developed or trained, but they’re still there. When we let that shine – whether it’s a character trait, a talent, or something we think is completely mundane but that others would never take for granted – we make the world a better place without even actively trying to do so. Leo also ties that gift very much to our core self. We can’t differentiate between “being ourselves” and “accessing this gift,” – which means that often, our relationship to ourselves impacts our view of our own gift, and vice versa. The gift is also very unique to our own natal charts, which is why one can not generalize about where or how someone is gifted or special.
The next positive of Leo is highly connected to this: just as Leo brings the native a gift that makes them special, it also allows us to see the specialness in others and to help them see or access it. This is why Leo is associated with anything from cheerleading to hype-people, talent scouts, and a generous disposition. People with Leo in placements connected to love are often described as ones who make their partner shine.
Leo brings us the capacity (though this might be something connected to fears and a growth journey) of being in the spotlight in general, especially as it's connected to gifts that wish to be given, and authenticity. This is the sign that helps us understand who we truly are, apart from all others, and that deals with showing that to the world… truthfully, and vulnerably (in intimate settings or on the world stage). Embracing who you are and being your true self is a Leo thing. This means that a certain degree of courage comes from Leo.
“Courage” doesn’t come from not feeling fear (that’s boldness… or stupidity, depending on the situation). Courage means to know fear but do it anyway – and Leo brings that gift. It allows us, in its most beautiful expression, to listen to our heart and do the right thing, even knowing that something bad might happen if we do. “Listening to one’s heart” is another major theme of Leo, as Leo is a sign that rules the heart and love.
Lastly, Leo is all about fun. Creativity, celebrations, parties, humor, finding lightness and joy in life, making something that was previously heavy something to chuckle over, optimism born out of knowing the dark side and still choosing hope… that’s the beautiful side of Leo.

Jupiter in Leo:
And all of these things explained under Leo are amplified by Jupiter journeying through this sign. So everything we discussed... will be a theme throughout this timeframe (if you skipped this, go here).
But also – there’s more to this event than just that.
Having Fun!
Jupiter in Leo brings a time of opportunities and luck for all endeavors and personal growth journeys that are about accessing your true gifts, using them, and having fun while doing so. This isn’t about the drudgery of skill-development, where all that gets you through is knowing that you’ll have a good result someday. This is about finding fun in whatever stage of the process you’re in, and it’s about being the true you while you’re at it.
Whether it’s a creative endeavor specifically or another skill set that’s your greatest gift: in our world, we’re always surrounded by influences that try to tell us that “this way of doing things” is wrong, bad, ugly, unskilled, or stupid, while “this other way” is much better. To make matters worse, no one agrees on which way is right and which way is wrong – and those who make up the “mainstream” change their minds every couple of years. Jupiter in Leo both makes us more sensitive to those ever-changing naysayers and “haters,” but it also promises to relieve the pressure when we truly embrace what and how we want to do in this world, how we’d like to use our gifts, and where we want to apply them. Unless your way is actually damaging to yourself or others in some way, walking your true path will lead to inner freedom and finding fun in creative self-expression. That’s the positive side of this influence.
But where are you even gifted? If you’re reading this and think, “I am not!” then Jupiter in Leo will reveal to you where you’re actually gifted or special in some way. This might not necessarily come out in ways that are comfortable – a lot of times, we take our own innate talents for granted, and it can be a rude awakening to realize that – but come out, it will. Especially the early months of this event will reveal truths about you and the ways you're different as Jupiter opposes Pluto in Aquarius, the planetary event that shows us exactly where we’re unique… including in ways that might make it hard to fit in a handy box.

Who am I… really?
Throughout this entire event, but especially while Jupiter is dancing with Pluto in Aquarius and Neptune in Aries (which is pretty much the exact same time, July-October 2026), Jupiter is revealing the beliefs we carry about ourselves and allows us to separate fact from fiction, illusion from truth. To be honest, few people see themselves honestly: some focus more on the negative (“I’m worse than anyone else!” is still believing you’re special, and only focusing on your weaknesses is not a balanced view of yourself – so it isn’t honest, either), and some can’t see their weaknesses if they were to appear in front of them with banners, signs, and a choreographed expressive dance to the Sound of Music.
Jupiter in Leo will reveal what beliefs you hold, whether they’re true, and what things about yourself you overlooked. This can include your own weaknesses, but it also can include your strengths. In a second phase, Jupiter in Leo then shows you how to shift weakness to strength and shows you a path to develop or use your strengths more.
Because to be truthful, Jupiter in Leo is not about showing your weaknesses that are fully 100% weaknesses only: it’s about showing latent gifts that may become weaknesses in specific circumstances but can be boons in others. For example, in the fairy tale of Cinderella, the heroine is someone who is a genuinely nice and good person. This is a weakness first because it makes it harder for her to defend herself against her exploitative and abusive stepfamily. However, is it truly a weakness to be good? Once she meets the prince, her personality is enough to make the guy fall in love and raise a massive ruckus to find her again when she leaves the ball. (And before you give me the “oh, he just fell for her beauty” – in the fairy tale, he danced with her and only her for hours on multiple days. Trust me if I tell you that you can get a pretty good feel for a person during that activity and in that timeframe – and if she had the personality of a moldy shoe or even no personality whatsoever, he would have simply given up on her when finding her was too much work). In the movies, it is her goodness and niceness that make the fairy godmother help Cinderella get to the ball in the first place (and in some movies, the prince also falls in love with her because of her kindness). So, in a very different situation, her perceived weakness became a boon.
Jupiter in Leo reveals where something we thought was a weakness can be a strength in specific circumstances, including when it comes to character traits that are more… abrasive, shall we say, than we’d like them to be. If Shakespeare’s Hamlet had landed in Othello’s story, Hamlet’s sometimes too-passive and overly cautious approach would have saved him from the pain Othello went through. Similarly, if Othello had ended up in Hamlet’s story, his anger issues would have made him solve the problem of Hamlet’s tale so fast that it would have never been labeled a tragedy.
Jupiter in Leo shows how you can make your weakness a strength – if you change your circumstances to do so.

Follow Your Heart
During Jupiter in Leo, following one’s heart isn’t just a nice thing we say to each other (ideally with tears streaming down our faces and sappy orchestra music in the background) but life advice that’s mandatory to follow. Essentially, the temptation will be to go the easy way of doing what others approve of 24/7. The reality is that this path will bring you so much pain that you’ll be unable to avoid your heart forever: so you might as well tune in from the get-go and make the hard choices from the start.
During this pass of Jupiter in Leo, Jupiter is heavily impacted by the asteroid of the wound and healing (Chiron) that first sits in the sign of peace, the body, and finances and then in the sign of identity, conflict, and action, which means that all the ways in which we feel bad about ourselves will become obvious. There’s healing to be had here… but it doesn’t feel gentle. At the same time, Jupiter is also impacted by the planet that reveals hidden truths and sometimes confronts us with the dark realities of life we’d like to avoid (Pluto). This means that true wisdom emerges, but also that we have to navigate a time of transformation during which our heart becomes our guide.
Furthermore, Jupiter also dances with the planet that has our intuition guide us, connects us to higher spiritual wisdom… but, in its shadow, can also make us more prone to fall for illusion (Neptune) – again, during the same timeframe (until about October is at its most intense, but this is all energy that sticks around for the entire duration of the event). Listening to our heart keeps us from tapping into illusion and helps us walk our true path.
Just when Jupiter clears this cluster of players, it meets the planet that gives us the consequences of our past actions for better and for worse – and guides us towards a life of integrity and sustainable foundations (Saturn) and the points of destiny (the Nodes). This is a time of rude awakening, hard-earned rewards, destiny-led opportunity, shedding what belongs to the past, final endings, and true wisdom.
Whatever needs to happen in your life will happen. Whatever growth needs to take place will take place. However, your life needs to transform will transform. And all of that will be for our highest good and show us the beautiful opportunities that we have, and who we truly are. Our hearts are our best guides at this time that can show us how to navigate this journey in the easiest, most gentle way. Listening from the start saves you hardship and guides you right.
