The Year 2027: Storm in a Snow Globe. Astrology of the Upcoming Year with General Analysis, Biggest Events, Expectations, and Tips
Welcome to the year 2027 – what do you need to know? What is there to expect? What can you work with to make this your year, a time that serves you best at whatever stage you’re at in life? And, most importantly, what do you need to watch out for – both in terms of opportunities and warnings? This astrological breakdown provides you with all the information you need to know.
But before we jump in, here’s a very important disclaimer about astrology: it’s both dependent on your unique astrological blueprint that modifies your experience of this year, and on your personal choices on how to engage with the astrology of these times. Yes, there are things that are universal, and I’ll focus on this more than on anything else – and I’ll do my best to tell you when something depends more on you than on the astrology – but this is a general rule of astrology to remain aware of. Knowledge of astrology significantly helps you make good choices, so feel free to book a reading if you’d like to go deeper and get a tailored-to-you breakdown of the year ahead.

2027: Storm in a Snow Globe
2027 is beyond a shadow of a doubt a huge year in astrological terms. And this is the third in a series of very big years. The good news is, the theme of this year is very much focused on allowing you/helping you create the life that’s truly aligned with who you are, what your values are, and what your true gifts are in this world. Nothing happens without a reason, and that’s especially obvious in this year’s astrology. But rapid change is in the air: life speeds up, upheaval happens, and the beginnings of creating structure and grounded, resilient necessity take place. But we're not out of the woods yet.
Now, this year is so big because it has massive, massive astrological events that require an in-depth, technical explanation - plus the context of where we've been (2025-2026) and where we're going (2028). If that's not your vibe, you can skip here to What to Expect and Practical Tips of what to do/what not to do. I also have Predictions for your Sign for you. These are way less technical, and thorough, precise, doable, and helpful.
However, if explanations of the singular events and context is your vibe, welcome to the playground, you'll have some fun - and will walk out with a far deeper understanding of the year than you'd expect.
As a recap of 2025 and 2026:
To understand 2027, we have to start with the two years we already had: 2025-2026 were a grand finale and a new dawn all wrapped in one as Neptune, planet of intuition, illusion, and vision, started a whole new historical cycle that lasts 165 years - though the first stage is 14 years, so until 2039. Saturn traced Neptune’s footsteps and started a 30-year-cycle and a 2 ½ year-long event at the same time, creating the blueprint for enhanced, sustainable change, agency, and trailblazing capacity. In summary: New beginnings abounded. This, plus Uranus, the planet of change and surprises, entering Gemini – which only happens every 84 years and starts an event lasting until 2033 – brought newness on a collective level and sped up our lives, as well as amplified our capacity to create change. This followed the 2023-2024 entry of Pluto into Aquarius, which put the planet of transformation and slowest generational planet into the sign of rapid progress, innovation, revolution, and social movements – a sign which Pluto will keep journeying through until 2044. (If you'd like to have more input on the singular events, the links to the respective articles are going to be repeated below.)
In a nutshell, the last 2 years were all about initiating these energies for change, because Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn all moved from passive and change-resisting signs to very active, quick-thinking, inspiration-generating places in the zodiac. (Pluto wasn’t in a change-resistant sign before, but Aquarius is a lot more concerned with creating change than Capricorn). Therefore, you will find no astrologer who’ll pretend that 2025 and 2026 were ordinary years. They weren't - astrologers marked the 2020's as significant 100 years before they came.
Enter 2027:
2027 builds on these initiations and allows us to harness the change-creating energies in an entirely new, far more potent way as they can finally fully unfold. This is the year in which all three of the Outer Planets and heavy-hitter Saturn are finally firmly established in their new signs of Aquarius (Pluto), Aries (Neptune and Saturn), and Gemini (Uranus). So now, for the first time, the true power of the planetary events gets to come through – because with astrological events that are this slow, there’s a gradual gaining momentum that means the full power takes a hot minute to fully show up.
Plus, this year pits all these planets into prime positions for maximum effect, especially as the other planets amplify what the Outer Planets (Neptune, Uranus, Pluto) lead us through. Change is happening already, but it’s catalyzed and sped up by the events of this year… and it brings change for your highest good and the expression of your individual needs and life purpose.
A Year of Transition:
2027 is very much a transitional year, as we move from "24/7 upheaval" of 2025 and 2026 (and large parts of 2027) to the beginnings of consolidation, creation of new structures of stability, and material renewal (that will be more of a theme later, after the year is over). We start to get the astrology that helps us adjust and build the structures we need to create a (new) normal - one that is resilient and sustainable. However, this year is the transition, not the end result. We do not have the stability yet, unless you really put the work in to create it yourself. But it is the beginning of the information-gathering process and the time to gather what you need in terms of direction, resources, raw materials, and more, so 2028 can bring back the stability and peace you crave.
So: use the information you gain in this year to gain what you need to create true stability and peace again. It'll help, and pay off in the long run.
But before said long run, one more volley of change is coming… so let’s jump into the big events to find out what and why.

The Biggest Events
Pluto Conjunct the North Node in Aquarius
Astrologers and astro-curious folks have seen this event coming and have already started their panic spirals before the year started because they knew this was coming – however, panic isn’t necessary or warranted, nor is any amount of fear, really. Still, this is a big event, which is why we’re starting with this.
The planet of transformation, metaphorical death and rebirth, intense experiences, truths and secrets, as well as the hidden shadow-dynamics of life and anything regarding power – on the universal or the personal level – is called Pluto. And in the sign of Aquarius, this planet is very strong, as Aquarius is both capable of disregarding the rules and adapting the status quo to whatever is needed (it actually very much encourages that kind of thing). Plus, it also quite literally promotes moving to the beat of your own drum, staying true to your own ideals, bringing social change, and toppling tyrants. This planetary event of Pluto in this sign is already a big one, as it’s putting us in touch with our own power to create the life and social life/society we really need, empowers us to step away from the mainstream and social pressures, and reveals the truth about the groups we move through. It changes us by making us more aware of our own ideals and mindsets.
Now, during this year, this event is being enhanced by the presence of the North Node – and thereby, the eclipses – in Aquarius.
The Lunar Nodes, consisting of the North and South Nodes, are the axis on which the Sun, Moon, and our Planet Earth align so perfectly that eclipses can take place. The axis is also connected to themes around fate, destiny, and events that feel that way, and it brings the potentiality for massive personal growth and big life changes – especially in a sign like Aquarius, which is already about change. The North Node then brings what we’re calling in, growing towards, and where opportunities propel us forward and into a new future (something else that Aquarius is very concerned for, because this is a sign of anticipating future needs and potentialities). With the North Node here, there is a lot of focus on growing at a rapid speed and initiating whatever change is necessary to propel us towards the future.
Having the North Node in Aquarius in our skies naturally means that the eclipses carry the signature of Aquarius, with some more strongly than others. This also means that some of the eclipses directly trigger Pluto, which means that they become tied to themes around the darkness of life, transformation, truth, power, and passion for life. Pluto especially shifts its expression with the choices of the individual human being, as it either promotes absolute truth and positive change for people with high integrity and the power to stay true even when it’s hard – or it leads us into realms of shadowy events and power dynamics so we’ll learn to embody those things. But how “easy” Pluto gets depends on you – and how willing you are to learn the lessons you’re here to master (it’s easier said than done, but that’s a theme for another day).
Eventually, the North Node (which travels backwards through the zodiac) and Pluto (which usually travels forward) grow closer and closer to one another. This doesn’t just affect the eclipses (like the Total Solar Eclipse in Leo in August 2), but it also affects both the North Node and Pluto itself.
Pluto is about the soul’s growth – Jeffrey Wolf Green, co-founder of Evolutionary Astrology, calls it the planet of the soul, the other co-founder of this branch of astrology, Steven Forrest, calls it the wound around the soul, but long story short, it signifies the soul-led transformations we experience and what we’re growing towards so we can live out our soul’s purpose in this life.
The North Node is traditionally seen as the soul’s destiny, specifically in Vedic astrology where it’s called a significator for the reason you’re here in this life, and what your soul’s future beyond this life should be – as this is highly tied to specific belief systems, I’ll leave it up to you whether you’d like to take that view on the North Node or not. But the fact is, this is the point in the sky/in our charts that shows us what we’re growing towards and where we experience events that feel like they’re fated, regardless of whether you’d like to use that term or a different one that fits you better.
When the North Node and Pluto come together, they charge each other up and amplify each other’s power. Plutonian transformation becomes a fate-related event. What we’re growing towards is change and our own power. How this plays out exactly – what the themes around this are – differs for each individual as Aquarius very much asks us to exit one-size-fits-all and asks us to embrace the life and path that’s meant for us as individuals: how taboo, odd, or conventional this path is doesn’t matter as long as it’s ours.
This event of Pluto and the North Node growing gradually closer – and getting fired up each time an eclipse happens – is the main feature of this year and one of the main reasons why this is still a year of intensity and change. But alas, there is more.

The Eclipses
Now, other than the eclipses firing out lovely and uncomfortable, but truth- and integrity-rewarding Pluto, the eclipses this year also stick out for another reason: we have them on not one, but three different axes.
The last eclipse on the Pisces/Virgo axis, the Super Lunar Eclipse in Virgo, takes place in February, which means that it’s a massive ending and wrap-up of life since September 2024 (if you live in North America, that would be since Hurricane Helene). This axis is all about endings anyway, as well as release, cleaning up, clearing things, and getting a healthy balance between work and rest, spiritual life and mundane (but still very important!) duties and devotions.
However, we also have the first eclipse on the axis of Capricorn and Cancer that we’ll journey with all throughout the next couple of years: this preview of life coming in July will help you note the physical structures in your life you’ll need to invest in for major success.
And, framing the end of the old and the preview of the new, we have eclipses in Leo and Aquarius, bringing us in touch with our capacity for joy, change, following our hearts, being bold, being brave, and finding our own community. Themes around exiting the peer pressure and social hamster wheel of seeking validation abound, as do themes of recognizing your own genius.
… and there’s something else happening this year that highly emphasizes this point!
Jupiter in Leo and Virgo
Jupiter has entered the sign of Leo on June 30th, 2026, and it will stay in this sign until July 26th, 2027: so, until July, the themes of growth, expansion, and wisdom-generating learning journeys full of rewards and opportunities enter the realm of authenticity, joy, pleasure, creativity, courage, and being true to your heart. Leo is all about the self and, more importantly, your relationship to yourself, and how you allow others to truly have access to the truth of you. It shows the gifts we have and who we really are. With Jupiter here, joy becomes more attainable and a major theme…
… However, the start of 2027, especially Spring, also sees the conjunction of Jupiter and the South Node. This event brings us a shedding of old and outdated beliefs about ourselves as well as a return to who we truly are. Unfortunately, this might not be as fun as it sounds, as the South Node often makes things hurt, and Leo is very sensitive in many ways. Jupiter here brings us luck, which also gives us a boost in seeing positive results of our past actions and, in many cases, the just rewards of our authentic truth, the unique gifts we have, and the ways we shared them with others.
Come July, Jupiter starts a new sign journey through Virgo, which brings a degree of stability to the very unstable energy we have… well, as soon as Jupiter’s done with its square to Uranus, the planet of change, in early October. Until then, we get to see the structures, habits, workflows, devotions, and overall plans and timetables in our lives that desperately need an update, and we get to provide the change we really need. Jupiter brings us luck, joy, and blessings, though it still requires us to tend to the details as well as the big vision and unifying red thread. There will be extra breakdowns on Jupiter in Virgo, and there are already articles discussing Jupiter in Leo here and here.

Chiron in Taurus
Chiron, the asteroid of healing and wounds, as well as wisdom-journeys, wraps up its time in Aries that started in 2018 in Spring of this year. This means that we’re getting a final blast from the past until April of 2027, and one in which themes around the self, the view of the self, agency, and our power to set boundaries and our own course in life are highlighted. Once this wraps up, it won’t come again for ca. 50 years.
The new journey of Chiron takes us through the sign of Taurus, which is connected to the land, resources, the body, and nature itself. This is a massive event as it lasts until 2034 and also impacts our values and ability to go slow in life – which is necessary for recharging. While this event helps us counter-balance the change-manic other planets, it also shows us where we need slowness and steadiness and don’t have it yet. So, make the change early because this desire for slowness won’t exactly disappear overnight. Nature-related events, including food-related themes, are also coming to the surface. I have a bunch of articles on this subject here and here.
Mars Retrograde in Virgo and Leo
Mars turns retrograde only every 2 years, and this year is one in which Mars does it again – and this isn’t just significant because it’s rare (for a retrograde), it’s also significant because Mars actually catalyzes, foreshadows, and ties up important events of this year.
Fact is, there’s too much here to cover, but it ties into past Retrogrades of Venus and Mercury in Scorpio in 2026, it facilitates the present finale of eclipses in Pisces/Virgo, it journeys with Mercury Retrograde (links coming soon), and it massively facilitates Uranus in Gemini by forming a change-loving square. It also deals with the same theme that Jupiter deals with this year, as it’s both in Virgo and Leo.
Here’s the article on Mars Retrograde, though I recommend you first finish this one before jumping into the rabbit hole.
Mercury Retrogrades in Water and Air Signs
The Mercury Retrogrades – 3 this year – generally take place in the same element, and this year, they’re all bridging Water and Air signs with Pisces/Aquarius, Cancer/Gemini, and Scorpio/Libra. This means that we’re moving from a journey of first understanding (and investigating) our feelings, instincts, and intuition about the world, and then moving to a more logical, mental, communicative, and change-promoting energy.

What Can We Expect?
This year, we can expect many, many things. This list is a starting point that's generalized and not even close to complete, but it should give you an idea - and lead to helpful tips as well.
Positive:
Elevated desire for freedom and liberation, personally, professionally, and socially/politically
The kind of change people considered to be impossible or highly improbable
People taking their own lives into their hands and creating a life they’re proud of
Work around setting boundaries paying off
A new view on who you truly are that’s not tied to your wounds or false beliefs about yourself
Nature healing
Healing-related endeavors paying off
The return of potential for peace
Healing of identity
Return to the true self
Boost in creativity
Radical pivots in collective ideas about right and wrong – that may be more truthful or needed than what we have at present
Negative:
Rise in extremism
Themes around abuse of power (but with the elevated potential of breaking free/creating change to free the world)
Big storms, specifically ones having to do with lightning or ones that bridge storm and water masses, fire, or earth in some ways
Elevated risk of blackouts and other issues with the internet or electricity (good year to get a generator!)
Elevated risk of electrical fire – can be prevented
Necessity to drive more carefully, as traffic accidents due to recklessness are more likely
Issues for people working in the 18+ kind of intimacy-related fields, if they’re not really careful – Chiron in Taurus may not be a good time for you, so invest in a Plan B (and reasonable safety measures)
Conflict for the sake of/leading to peace, both on the personal and worldwide stage
Queer community: massive changes (not in a good way)
Elevated risk for burnout for those at risk
Massive change in collective ideas about reality
Neutral:
Massive developments in tech
Changes that impact people’s jobs
Creative jobs pay off, but very unpredictably
Revolutions and revolts
Rise in political and personal figures with star power who lead movements – for good or for ill
The truth about heroes coming out, also for good or ill

Practical Advice:
Okay – we have the overall energies of the year, we have the big events, so let’s now move to the practical advice. What can you do, and what should you probably not do? - Again, this is generalized advice. In a personal reading, we would see a lot more specific and nuanced things that affect you, so be sure to pop in for a reading if you're interested!
Let's start with what to avoid, also known as "The "Nope" List"
The “Nope” List: What should you not do?
Be reckless – this year starts off with massively boosting people’s desire to be reckless, and the entire year carries themes of creating change and leaping before you look. The combination means that you actively have to keep your head engaged, or you take stupid risks that won’t pay off.
I would not trust AI this year – not with Pluto and the North Node in Aquarius, the sign of AI, dealing with co-opting, power-abuse, and setting ourselves free from it. If you don’t know who feeds the minds of AI software, don’t trust what the software parrots back at you (without thinking things through yourself). Eventually, this transit will pay off positively, but I just wouldn’t trust it this year yet.
Stay out in nature when there’s a big storm forecasted & secure whatever needs securing on your property. Storms need to be taken really seriously this year.
Play chicken with lightning: you won’t have Dr. Frankenstein claim “it lives!” if things go wrong – and the likelihood for that is a bit higher this year.
Go into the cave that’s guaranteed to cave in at some point. You shouldn’t be doing that anyway, but this year… no.
Overwork yourself: with a combination of transits promoting growth towards sustainability in the use of your energy, transits boosting the reckless pursuit of goals without giving you fuel, transits bringing unpredictable events, and then ones adding to your workload… don’t say Yes to everything and make sure you have a way out if things turn upside-down. This year is not predictable, so keep some room as a buffer.
Over-invest in famous people or other leadership figures. Honestly, leaders are great – people who have the qualities of good leadership and provide for others are to be appreciated. But one has to be careful not to elevate a leader to the point of becoming unaware of who they are. This year will reveal some truths about the people who are leaders (some good, some bad), so pay attention.
Vilify people for being human. This year can make us very emotionally reactive to the behavior of others, especially if we don't know them personally. Pay attention to people's behavior and hold them accountable if necessary, but don't forget that a certain margin for human mistakes need to be given to all - including yourself. A.k.a., don't vilify someone for mistakes you yourself would make if you were put into the same situation as them, especially not if they're actively trying to become better people. (Of course, that doesn't mean letting serious breaches in ethics fly or shoving things under the rug just because someone said "Sorry" on instagram: common sense middle ground between non-judgment/forgiveness and justice exists, so please stay there.)
The “Yes” List:
Stay open to new information coming out, but stay discerning as well.
Make your house and home storm-safe, and take storm precautions seriously.
Fight back if you’re being bullied, harassed, or otherwise badly treated. Forgiveness may be divine, but Saturn in Aries brings us all on a path of growing as individuals while Pluto and the North Node help us topple tyrants (including tyrannical neighbors, co-workers with complexes, and bullying friends). Be part of their journey to become better people by gently (or not so gently) helping them learn more quickly what they’ll inevitably have to learn anyway. Besides, forgiveness is divine, but so is justice – setting boundaries is nothing to be ashamed of. (Don’t overdo it, of course - again, common sense middle ground).
Shine your light.
Think for yourself
Listen to intriguing hits of inspiration - but make a plan that's logical, as well
Let yourself come alive
In summer, make a plan/list of what you truly need: this is a year of bi-annual resolutions
In the second half of the year, prioritize diligence and actively building/consolidating what you'd like to have/keep in your life
Invest in technology and insurance for it
